World: iPhone 14 may have stolen the show at the Apple Event recently, but other new hardware in the form of AirPods Pro and Apple Watches also got people talking online.

One feature in particular on the new AirPods Pro case has split opinion on Twitter, with some regarding it as a reason to buy the earbuds, while others mocked the price.

That is until you get to its most divisive new feature – an optional lanyard attachment to the case.

For some tech enthusiasts on Twitter, the lanyard is seemingly enough for them to upgrade to the second-generation AirPods Pro.

Others, meanwhile, were less convinced. While the edition of an attachable lanyard is unquestionably more convenient, the fact that it has to be brought separately didn’t wash over well with many critics.

Indeed, far from being a free accessory in the box, AirPod users will have to shell out $12.95 in the US, and £12.95 in the UK.

Another person questioned the lack of innovation involved in adding a lanyard holder to the case, writing: “Steve Jobs: ‘Let’s go invent tomorrow rather than worrying about what happened yesterday. Apple in 2022: ‘What if the AirPods Pro case had a lanyard holder?'”

Whether you think the lanyard is a hit or miss, the second-generation AirPods Pro are set to be incredibly popular regardless.

In spite of rising inflation, the AirPods are still priced at £249, the same as the originals when they were first released.

According to Apple’s own sales figures, the Pros are the company’s best selling earphones, while sales of all their AirPod models amounted to $15 billion in revenue in 2020 alone. Apple Airpods funny feature

As for the rest of the event viewers were treated to the first signing of the iPhone 14 – as well as the Pro models.

New to the line up for 2022 is the iPhone Plus, which is a 6.7-inch version of 14 with the same dimensions as the popular Pro Max. The iPhone 14 Plus is priced at £949 (AED4,043), although it won’t actually be available to order until next month.Apple Airpods funny feature
