Balenciaga has done the unthinkable by putting heels on the most comfy shoes on the planet. Crocs may not have a high glam factor, but their foam clogs have gathered a large and loyal fan base for the comfort they provide. Balenciaga, a luxury brand located in Paris, has unveiled a high-heeled version of Crocs’ renowned clogs, but the Internet is not impressed.

The shoes appeared as part of Balenciaga’s spring 2022 collection, but they are still not available for purchase. The Crocs stilettos might sell for as much as $1,000, or around $73,000 for a pair, according to the news outlet.

The Balenciaga Crocs elicited a wide spectrum of emotions on Twitter, from astonishment to amusement to outright disbelief.

The high-heeled clogs mark Balenciaga’s second collaboration with Crocs. In 2017, Balenciaga’s creative director Demna Gvasalia had also introduced the platform Crocs.

“It’s a very innovative shoe,” Mr. Gvasalia told fashion magazine Vogue about the first collaboration. “It’s light, it’s a one-piece foam mold and to me, these kinds of techniques and working with these kinds of materials is very Balenciaga.”

Balenciaga has a history of grabbing attention by reinventing popular mass-market products. They released a $3,500 bag in 2017 that looked a lot like the humble plastic bags we all use to store our thick winter blankets.
