The ‘world’s biggest’ shop fest is back in town as the annual DSF’s 26th run kicked off Thursday to a grand opening of wowing sales, thriving markets, live concerts, and all-around family entertainment.

Set to dash into the new year, from December 17 to January 30, the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) will usher in an array of events and activities smack across the city, while also maintaining peak health and safety standards.

You’ve got music!

Ears out now, the two-day opening weekend promises to be a banger!

Arabic superstars Hussain Al Jassmi and Tamer Hosny are set to light Downtown Dubai on fire with their powerful tunes. The tickets to the concert were quick to sell out but the show can still be viewed live on MBC 1 and Wanasah at 8.30pm local time.

And joining the bop-scape are Billboard charters Anne-Marie and the Clean Bandit, looking to notch up the heat at Etisalat Market OTB on Friday, which will also feature a host of F&B vendors and family activities. Doors will open midday and concert seating will begin at 5pm, with tickets priced AED50.

Not to be left behind in the fanfare, the Dubai Opera will host The Simon & Garfunkel Story — a smashing tale of the world-famous folk-rock duo. The live venue will host two shows, at 2pm and again at 8pm.

Here’s one for the kids!

Ranking among the safest countries in the world amid a pandemic, UAE’s glittering city will see innumerable festivities pop-up across the emirate:

From Last Exit Al Khawaneej to Al Seef Dubai Creek, from Mall of the Emirates to the Dubai Festival City Mall, family events galore at tourist hubs La Mer, City Walk, The Pointe — the fun-train’s got no breaks!

One of the highlights of DSF 2020 is the Etisalat Market OTB, set to entice visitors with music, fashion and food. The activities will include movie nights, live talent contests as well as the brand new Food Alley — now serving Insta-worthy Korean and Asian street cuisines.

And parents, here’s one to delight the kids. Al Khawaneej will stage a series of Alice in Wonderland themed children’s entertainment, with a weekly lineup of activations and attractions this season.

Book the calendars, opening times are Sunday to Wednesday, 6pm to midnight and Thursday to Saturday, 4pm to 2am!

Bring on the ho, ho, ho’s!

Jingle Bell Rock, anyone? Festive cheer will also abound at Dubai World Trade Centre this weekend, featuring Christmas performances by a stellar line-up of international singers and musicians.

Joining in the seasonal celebrations is The Theatre at Mall of the Emirates with a special screening of the Christmas classic, The Snowman and family stage show, Beauty and the Beast.

The Christmas Show at Fairmont The Palm is a mix of all the favourite festive songs, and will take place from December 17-28, except December 21 and 25.

And to wrap the wholesome scenes, the Dubai Winter Festival will be staged at Zabeel Park until January 15 2021, from 4pm to 10pm each day.

Calling all foodies…

Alserkal Ave will host the What The Food event from December 17-19, welcoming the gastronomical buffs to a selection of its pop-ups and food trucks scattered throughout the outdoor venue.

…and the ‘culture’ hunters!

Skip on over to The Market Outside The Box at Burj Park on 17 and 18 December to support small businesses, shop one-of-a-kind pieces, explore food trucks and enjoy live performances from two (top-secret) regional stars.
