DXB Fitness Aqua Challenge makes a big splash at JBR!

Four days into the Dubai Fitness Challenge 2020, that kicked off last week, the emirates today made a big splash with the The Aqua Challenge – the first such event taking place in the Middle East – in one of the most fun and entertaining obstacles course worldwide.

The event was organised by Dubai Sports Council in cooperation with “9714sports”, and sponsored by Pocari Sweat.

Jumeirah saw its beaches hum with life as participants lined up to first run 100m across the salty shore and then dive into the water, swimming to the massive inflatable AquaFun Waterpark bobbing in the waters. At 50,000 sqft, AquaFun holds the title of the largest inflatable aqua park in the world.

Once in there, they had to overcome 35 obstacles, which were arranged in the shape of “I Love Dubai”, before swimming back to the shore and then racing to the finish line.

Amal Al Muhairi, founder of ‘9714sports’ and a member of Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises, said: “We are happy with the great success of this event, and really proud as well because it is the first event organised by “9714sports.”

The Dubai Sports Council has a diverse sports calendar catering to sports enthusiasts of all nationalities living in Dubai, and the Council is always looking to add more events that will encourage all members of the community – men and women – to participate and embrace a fun and healthy lifestyle.

Launched in 2017, by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, the Dubai Fitness Challenge is an annual celebration of fitness and wellness.

The challenge is simple: complete 30 minutes of activity each day for 30 days.

His Highness kicked off the lively initiative with the aim to create a fitness-focussed mindset and inspire all to seek healthy, active lifestyles. With a month-long calendar of free workouts, exciting fitness events and wellness-centric entertainment, participants are bound to find plenty of activities to keep moving.

The emirates saw more than 1,108,890 residents and tourists join the Challenge last year in its most successful edition so far.
