Elon Musk is planning to create a new social media platform

CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, is considering developing what appears to be the anti-Twitter, claiming that the social media platform violates the “free expression concept.”

‘Is a new platform needed?’ he asked on his Twitter page. Musk was replying to a Twitter user’s question on if he would consider creating a social media platform based on an open-source algorithm that prioritized free speech and had less propaganda.

His message comes a day after he conducted a Twitter poll in which over 70% of respondents said they did not believe Twitter adhered to the principle of free expression.

Given that Twitter serves as the de facto public town square, failing to adhere to free speech principles fundamentally undermines democracy.

Musk, a frequent Twitter user, has recently been critical of the social media platform and its policies. He claimed that the firm is hurting democracy by not adhering to the values of free speech.
