DUBAI: Expo 2020 Dubai’s official logo and its beating heart, Al Wasl Plaza, have been immortalised in fine jewellery, thanks to the creative genius of UAE brand Monogram, which has launched its line of Expo-inspired jewellery celebrating the success of the first World Expo in the region.

Monogram has amalgamated elements of the Expo 2020 Dubai logo and the iconic Al Wasl dome to produce bracelets, earrings, pendants and rings, licensed with Expo 2020 Dubai engraving.

The unique collection, set in 18-carat yellow gold and silver, showcases experimentation with pearls and diamonds, which makes Monogram’s innovative aesthetic a key element of their contemporary edit. Manufactured locally, the chic collection reflects Emirati heritage and culture: pearls celebrating the UAE’s history of pearl diving, Arabic script signifying national identity and the Expo logo-inspired wheel-shaped charm representing the country’s continuous development.

Founded in 2013 and based in Dubai Design District, Monogram is the brainchild of siblings Muna Al Zarooni, a graphic designer, and Nadia Al Zarooni, an architect.

Muna Al Zarooni said, “Expo 2020 Dubai is an enduring chapter in our nation’s history, and we want people to own something as a reminder of this achievement, with a design that is a combination of our culture and accomplishments. We have sold 150 pieces from our Expo collection. However, our focus isn’t about how much we sell, but is more about building relationships and spreading a positive image of Emirati culture, design and workmanship.”

Nadia Al Zarooni said: “Participating in Expo 2020 Dubai is a patriotic statement, and we are proud to be a part of this event. It goes in line with our vision, to become an internationally recognised design company expressing our growing multidimensional Emirati culture.”

The Expo collection comprises fine jewellery, ethical camel leather bracelets, chokers and wooden frames priced from AED 365-AED 5,500 and available until 31 March at Monogram at Expo 2020 Dubai’s World Souq.
