WhatsApp is on the verge of changing the way ‘groups’ work with an enormous update to the app.

The new change reportedly means that you will be able to create groups within other groups.

The upcoming ‘community feature’ will be quite similar to that of Slack, which many organisations use for work with lots of smaller groups inside.

As well as office people, it might be pretty useful for local communities who want to discuss sub-topics, such as schooling, dropping the kids off, and a little bit of goss.

Coding experts at XDA Developers told the publication in October that the new feature might make its appearance very soon.

However, it’s still unclear exactly how the new function will work.

“This name could mean anything,” said WABetaInfo.

“But a Community is a new place where Group admins have more control over Groups on WhatsApp. Mainly to group other Groups easily.”

Unfortunately, we still don’t exactly know what the feature will do and when it will be released to the public.

“With the speed of feature introduction on WhatsApp, it could also take years before this feature comes to a stable release,” XDA Developers previously said.

It has also been announced that WhatsApp will stop working on 52 phones from November 1, 2021.

This means that millions of people will be blocked from using the popular messaging application unless they upgrade their device or their software is updated.

But it’s worth noting again that some of the models on the list can have their software updated so that it will work without forking out for a new phone.

The iPhone 6S is one of these as well as iPhone 6S Plus and iPhone SE (iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 variants). Basically, if you have anything older than an iPhone 4S, you will have to get a new handset because the phones can’t install the correct software.

If Apple users with any of the above want to figure out how to update their software they can go to Settings > General > Software Update and find the version you’re using.
