Koozhangal — India’s official entry for Oscars 2022

Indian, Tamil drama “Koozhangal” has been selected as India’s official entry for the 94th Academy Awards.

On March 27, 2022, the 94th Academy Awards will be held. According to sources, Vinothraj PS’s Tamil drama “Koozhangal” (“Pebbles”) has been chosen as India’s official entry for the 94th Academy Awards.

Only three Indian films have been nominated for the award by 2021: Mother India (1957), Salaam Bombay! (1988), and Lagaan (2001). However, for the 94th Academy Awards, This film is in the Best International Feature Film category for the Oscars in 2022, thus there is a lot of anticipation, especially in the Tamil film industry.

With the addition of the Tamil drama “Koozhangal” (“Pebbles”) directed by Vinothraj, we can now state that Tamil films are establishing their places not only in India but also abroad. Films like K. G. F. Part one and two have already garnered a lot of fame in the foreign audience. PS said, “I’m currently in the race, hope for the best.”

Earlier this year, Koozhangal took home the highest prize, the Tiger Award for best feature, at the 50th International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). It was screened at the Los Angeles Indian Film Festival (IFFLA). The 94th Academy Awards will take presented in Los Angeles.
