Naatak ‘22 presents two contemporary Hindi plays to Dubai

A day of two fantastic contemporary Hindi plays to arrive in Dubai as part of Naatak’ 22 returns on May 15 at Oud Maitha Theatre, Zabeel Ladies Club.

“Waiting for Naseer” written by renowned theatre-maker and playwright Sapan Saran from Mumbai. She has written brilliant plays such as Club Desire which premiered at NCPA Mumbai. “Waiting for Naseer” is fun, comedy banter about waiting for success and things you encounter en route. Be it a competition, struggles, knowledge and emotions, all are encompassed in this fast-paced, absurdist comedy.

Two actors are waiting outside Prithvi Theatre to meet the theatre doyen Naseeruddin Shah. Both have their reasons and justification, they share stories, bicker and wait for their fate to shine.

Directed by theatre director Huda Bhaldar for the Dubai audience, performed by powerful actors Prateek Dhar, Rohit Prakash and Parag Nayak, Waiting for Naseer will be staged on 15 May.

“Bali aur Shambhu” is written by the brilliant playwright and actor from Kashmir, Manav Kaul, of the fame ‘Tumhari Sulu’ and recently ‘Fame Game’ on Netflix. He is an incredible writer who weaves such powerful stories for his audience.

Simplistic and yet evoking powerful emotions, Bali aur Shambhu is a story of two senior citizens living in an old age home. The two are poles apart, but over a period of time, form a precious seamless bond. It is an emotional comedy as you’ll get to see Shambhu making rules and Bali breaking them. They laugh, and cry, it’s a witty situational comedy where the two discover a friendship, happiness and the role of stories in keeping us alive.

Directed by theatre director Huda Bhaldar, under the drama guidance of Theatre maker Arif Bhaldar for the Dubai audience. It will be performed by fantastic actors Digvijay Singh, Dushyant Barot, Shilpi Verma, Abhinav Bhukebag, Saleem Surani, Mishita Khiara, all working professionals and students in Dubai.

The two plays will be staged at the grand Oud Maitha Theatre, Zabeel Ladies Club, Dubai
