UAE: Authorities across the Emirates has announced ease on Covid safety rules as daily cases have dropped sharply. Among these one of the key points is that masks have been made optional outdoors, while it is still required in indoor spaces.

Additionally, there will ease those around close contacts of Covid-positive cases.

However, the isolation period differs for those in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

In Dubai, Covid-positive patients must isolate at home for 10 days.

In Abu Dhabi, this flowchart explains the protocol for positive cases.

As per the announcement made by the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA), close contacts don’t need to quarantine any more. The close contacts working in “all state sectors” need to do a PCR test daily for five days, the NCEMA said, which is being followed in Abu Dhabi.

As per Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management, close contacts who do not have any symptoms are no longer required to quarantine. The committee did not state the need to conduct PCR tests.

The NCEMA also announced that the isolation protocol for Covid-positive residents remains unchanged. They will not be required to wear wristbands.
