Over a decade. That’s how long ago it was that the much anticipated work began on a live-action release of Naughty Dog’s uber popular Uncharted games.

The project has so far sifted through seven directors, five release dates, changing scripts and changing actors.

A still from the world-popular Uncharted game, an action-adventure series developed by Naughty Dogs for primarily Sony’s PlayStation consoles.

But a new image surfacing on the celebrated MCU’s Spider-Man star, Tom Holland’s Instagram, sporting a full Nathan Drake cosplay — from the cargo pants to the threadbare shirt, piston holster to the signature necklace — gives fans some hope yet.

“It’s nice to meet you, I’m Nate,” the caption read.

Given the 24-year-old actor’s young age, contrasting drastically with the ‘Nate’ from the games in his mid-thirties, the movie has reportedly been cited to be a prequel in-works to the original game.

The original Nathan Drake voice actor Nolan North also shared a few images from the set, which appears to prove that the Uncharted movie —  directed by Ruben Fleischer — is, in fact, a real film that is mid-production, much to the delight of the Uncharted buffs.

As of now, Uncharted is set to hit theaters on July 16th, 2021, barring any more changes in Sony’s theatrical release schedule caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to Holland, Mark Wahlberg, Antonio Banderas, Sophia Taylor Ali, and Tati Gabrielle are set to fill the roster for the movie.
