ZEE5 Global has the largest library of more than 4k Bollywood movies and on-demand content for viewers – Archana Anand

  • ZEE5 Global Content Festival is a global platform for budding filmmakers to showcase their work across 190+ countries.

Dubai: Archana Anand, Chief Business Officer at ZEE5 Global, was in UAE for collaboration with Lulu and other developments. TheBrew talked with Archana Anand about ZEE5 Global future, growth, and opportunities for OTT.

Archana Anand launched ZEE5 in India in early 2018 and then internationally. She has been the architect of ZEE5’s language proposition which has been stronger in relevance today in India and globally. Archana spearheaded and conceptualized the launch of ZEE5 India and then ZEE5 Global across 190+ countries.

Talking to TheBrew, Archana informed that ZEE5 Global holds a library of more than 4000 Bollywood movies, which is a huge draw among Bollywood fans in this market, including local audiences. She proudly says that ZEE5 Global is the only digital platform to offer both ‘on-demand’ content and live TV in a single platform, and on such a huge scale with on-demand content.

ZEE5 Global, Content available in 18 languages on its OTT platform including Hindi, English, Bengali, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya, Bhojpuri, Gujarati, Punjabi, and six international languages including Urdu, Bangla (Bangladeshi) and Arabic.

While the conversation, Archana Anand informed us about the ZEE5 Global Content Festival (GCF). The ZEE5 Global Content festival launched in 2020 aims to provide a global platform for budding and independent filmmakers to showcase their work to an audience across 190+ countries. For its inaugural edition, ZEE5 had received hundreds of entries from countries like Australia, Bangladesh, Netherlands, India, Dubai, Singapore, the UK, the USA, and more.

“We invite entries for content created in any language across fiction and non-fiction TV shows, movies, documentaries, stories, short films, music videos, and more”, she added.

Back for the second edition in 2022, the ZEE5 Global Content Festival (GCF) continues to give aspiring filmmakers a platform to showcase their unique content for the second consecutive year.

Archana informed us that, with the success of the first edition of the festival, this year we received more than double the number of entries. With the help of an expert panel of judges at Zee5 Global, 50 submissions were shortlisted across multiple continents. 12 of these were declared winners at the end of the Global Content Festival 2022, and their work will be featured on the platform for viewers to watch. India-based independent filmmaker Kumar Ritu Raj won the trophy for his drama movie Khudbudi. Meanwhile, Viral Patel from Australia, Nimisha Tanna from New Zealand, and Shaunak Surlu from Singapore emerged as winners for their distinctive storytelling across genres and languages.
